REGISTRATION INFORMATION



Below is everything you need to know about registering for each of the activities of the 2021 Scottsboro BBQ Festival on Saturday, October 9th!

By completing the registration form below, you agree to the above Terms & Conditions, as well as the rules and details listed below. • Vendor Fee: $35 Merchandise OR $60 Food by Aug. 1 or $45/$70 after or on-site registration.

• Set-Up Time: All vendors must be set-up and open no later than 9am and remain open until 6pm. Food Vendors must remain open from 9am-7pm, unless otherwise allowed by organizer.

• All vehicles must be parked in designated areas no later than 8:30am

• Vehicle re-entry will only be allowed after 6pm through designated areas, as directed by event organizers. This is for the safety of attendees at the festival.

• Spaces: One space is equal to two lined parking spaces space assignment issued after approval. No guarantee will be made for specific requests, however, we will consider all requests.

• Extra Spaces: If more than one space is needed, please call to verify availability (may require second fee).

• Merchandise should be of the antique/collectible/vintage/art/craft/new merchandise type or food/drink vendor.

• Direct Sales/Food vendors MUST call to verify space PRIOR to mailing form and payment.

• If Direct Sales/Food vendors mail form without verifying space, your entry will be returned.

• The vendor is responsible for all tables, tents, power, water, etc. (we can not accommodate power or water access.) If using a generator, please understand that the generator must be 70dB or less.

• Vendors are responsible for necessary permits, licenses, taxes, as regulated by local, state, & federal law.

• Non-vending businesses who wish to set up a booth for advertising/promotional purposes may complete a form as a vendor and note intentions in "Message" area of form below.




Backyard BBQ Competition

• Entry fee per team is $125 if paid by Aug. 31 $150 after Aug. 31.
• Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and Alabama Barbecue Association.

• Check-In Times: Friday, Oct. 8 6pm-8pm OR Saturday, Oct. 9 6am-7am.

• All contestants must attend a mandatory meeting Saturday, Oct. 9 at 7:30am.

• Meat must be cooked on site wood, charcoal or wood pellets are acceptable (See KCBS rules for details).

• Two categories: Ribs and Chicken (contestants must participate in both).

• Entries will be judged on appearance, taste, and texture (KCBS Cooking & Judging Rules apply).

• Contestant must provide meat, power, water and any necessary supplies and equipment.

• If using a generator, please understand that the generator must be 70dB or less.

• If a contestant wishes to be a vendor, a vendor fee will be required. No contestant shall vend food or merchandise unless authorized. Contestants may also enter People’s Choice (see below.)

• Judging begins at 4pm (Chicken due at 4pm, Ribs due at 4:30pm). Awards announced at 6pm.

• Trophies awarded to Grand Champion, Reserve Grand, and 1st/2nd/3rd place finishers in each category.

• Prize money: Grand Champion ($500), Reserve Grand ($300), Payout to top five winners of each category as follows: 1st ($200), 2nd ($150), 3rd ($100), 4th ($75), 5th ($50).



Kids-Q Competition

• Ages 7-12 years old must grill a burger.

• Contestant must meet age requirement at time of contest on October 9, 2021.

• Meat will be provided to each contestant. Contestants are responsible for shaping and seasoning meat. Grills will be provided or you may bring your own (charcoal only, no exceptions.)

• Each contestant is required to have at least one adult present at all times. Adults will tend the heat source, handle knives and check meat for doneness only.

• Adults may not help shape, season, grill or garnish the burger.

• Contestants are required to provide lighting agent, matches/lighter, utensils, seasoning/marinade, water and garnish if desired. It is the responsibility of the adult to maintain a clean and safe environment.

• Entry fee is $25 per contestant. Parent/Guardian must complete entry form.

• There is a strict limit of 30 contestants registration is due by October 1, 2021. Space is given on a first-come, first-served basis. On-site registration available if space allows.

• Check-In 9:30am, Start Grilling 10:00am, Burgers Due 11:15am, Awards 1:30pm.




Peopl'es Choice Competition

• Contestants may choose to enter the meat (Boston Butt) category or dessert category.

• Entry fee is $40 per contestant per category. Contestants may enter both categories.

• Must prepare enough meat/dessert to allow for up to 250 samples in 2oz. cups. Sauce on meat is optional. This will equal approximately two large Boston Butts. Contestants provide their own meat/ingredients.

• Meat & desserts must be cooked off-site. No cooking will be allowed at the event for People’s Choice.

• Tables will be provided, along with 2oz. sample cups. Gloves (provided) will be required by all contestants. Contestants are responsible for food safety and maintaining a sanitary area when prepping sample cups.

• Contestants may dress in a fun theme or decorate their area within their allocated space.

• Setup & Registration: 12:00pm-12:45pm. Serving: 1:00pm-2:00pm. Awards at 3:00pm.

• Trophies or Medals awarded to 1st/2nd/3rd place finishers in each category.

• Prize money: 1st Place $175, 2nd Place $125, 3rd Place $100, Best Decorated $50, Judge’s Choice Meat $50 and Judge’s Choice Dessert $50.




Cornhole Tournament

• $20 Registration Fee Per Team (Two Persons Per Team).

• Standard Double Elimination Format with a maximum number of 64 teams.

• Minimum age requirement is 15 years old to compete without an adult player.

• Players must be respectful and courteous.

• Any BBQ committee member or tournament director may disqualify and remove any person from the event at their discretion. A refund will not be allowed if a team is disqualified, fails to check-in or doesn’t compete.

• Check-In & Warm-Up from 12:00pm-1:30pm. Tournament starts at 2:00pm.

• Awards to 1st/2nd/3rd place finishers with Guaranteed Payouts to 1st-3rd: 1st - $150, 2nd - $80, 3rd - $50.




Barq-Off Dog Parade

• All dogs are to be healthy and not to be considered dangerous. The committee reserves the right to ask any contestant to remove dogs deemed dangerous from the event.

• All dogs are required to have current vaccinations. Owner assumes all liability for his/her dog.

• Clean-up bags will be provided at the registration area. Owners must pick up and dispose of droppings.

• Water bowls will be provided on-site. You are welcome to bring your own water and container if you like.

• Check-In & Registration will be from 11:00am-12:00pm at the bandstand on the north lawn of the square.

• The dog parade will begin at 12:00pm, with awards immediately following.

• Each dog will be walked by the contestant up and down the stage to be judged.

• Dogs will be judged in the category registered. You may enter multiple categories at $10 per category. Best in Show will be judged using cumulative scores from Best Costume, Best Groomed and Best Performer. All proceeds benefit Spay & Neuter Jackson County.

• Best in Show will be awarded a trophy and $100 cash. Top three finishers in each category will receive cash prizes: 1st - $75, 2nd - $50 and 3rd - $25. Medals will also be awarded to 1st-3rd.




Pumpkin Painting & Carving Contest



By completing the registration form below, you agree to the above Terms & Conditions, as well as the rules and details listed below. For questions, please email info@scottsborobbqfestival.com. You may register online through Friday, Oct. 8th at 12pm. You must register on-site after this time.


• Two categories: Painted Pumpkins or Carved Pumpkins. Entry fee $10 per entry, per category.

• All decorating and carving is to be completed off-site and finished pumpkins brought to the Scottsboro BBQ Festival ready to be displayed upon registration.

• Enter as an adult (ages 18-up), teen (13-17) or child (ages 7-12).

• Adult supervision is required for all children entering the contest.

• Registration will be from 3:00pm-3:30pm. Judging will begin at 3:30pm. Awards announced at 4:15pm. Ribbons awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place.

• Prize money: 1st Place $50, 2nd Place $25, 3rd Place $10 in each category & age group.




Costume Contest



By completing the registration form below, you agree to the above Terms & Conditions, as well as the rules and details listed below. For questions, please email info@scottsborobbqfestival.com. You may register online through Friday, Oct. 8th at 12pm. You must register on-site after this time.


• Entry fee $10 per person.

• Age groups to be judged 18-up, 13-17, 7-12 and newborn-6.

• All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

• Registration will be from 4:00pm-4:30pm. Judging will begin at 4:30pm. Awards announced at 5:15pm.

• Prize money: 1st Place $50, 2nd Place $25, 3rd Place $10 in each age group.

• All participants are encouraged to stay around the square and welcome the Witches Ride at 5:30pm for free candy!




Witches Ride



By completing the registration form below, you agree to the above Terms & Conditions, as well as the rules and details listed below. For questions, please email warehouse207@yahoo.com or call Rebecca at 256-599-5156. You may register online through Friday, Oct. 8th at 12pm. You must register on-site after this time.


• You must dress up as a witch and your bike must be decorated. One rider per bike.

• You must purchase candy to throw to kids once you reach the square. You will need to have a way to carry the candy and safely reach it to throw.

• Registration will be from 4:30pm-5:30pm at Warehouse 207, located at 207 Willow Street in Scottsboro, one block from the square. Free public parking is available next to the building.

• Witches may also walk, following behind the riding witches, but must also dress up as a witch and throw candy to kids along the route.

• $35 entry fee includes a 2021 Scottsboro Witches Ride t-shirt.
